What can we do if we are frustrated or angry? We can take some deep breaths, we can count to our favorite number, we might be able to talk a walk – it depends on where we are and what the rules are.
We can calmly express our feelings. I feel….this way….because…..We can use that protective bubble of light to help us decide the best way to handle things. We put ourselves in that golden bubble, allow the light to fill our bodies and ask within our hearts- what’s the best way to handle this situation?
What about if we feel sad, what can we do? We can talk to a grown up that we trust. We can write in our journal. We can draw pictures. We can cry if we need to, there’s nothing wrong with crying. We can express ourselves- I feel sad…because….We can also use that protective bubble. It won’t make the sadness go away, but it can help us to feel safe, supported, and loved.
Emotional regulation is important because we have the power to solve our problems and overcome obstacles – but we have to remember to remain in our power. If we’ve let our emotions control our pure and loving hearts, then we aren’t acting from a place of power.
Also we want to be wise. It’s not wise to turn a small problem into a big one, when we can simply work to solve the small problem.
As we learn to express ourselves clearly and calmly with the most harmonious intent, it becomes easier and easier to ask – what is the best way to handle this situation?
